Seriously.
I've fallen off the bandwagon. I've seriously just let it all go.
I know that my failure is nothing but my fault and and I need to be open to making serious changes in my life if I want to really lose weight. I mean, it's always the same old thing. I get gung ho for about two weeks and then little things spring up that get me off track. Ugh. It's so frustrating.
But I know that I really need to make a change. And I really want to make a change. I think I need to make myself more accountable. I know I need to make myself more accountable.
I'm applying to a job, that I'm really hoping that I get, so I'm thinking that will help me get into a regular routine. For the last few months I've been at home and the temptation of sitting around and watching TV is high. Like red alert, I'm so ridiculously lazy. So I hope that having a job that is not at home will really help me back into getting my butt to the gym. Because seriously? I have 45 lbs to lose, at least to start with and if I keep going the way I am, I'll be closer to 300 lbs in no time. SO SCARY!
I just had some blood tests and my triglycerides came back really high. It's off the normal range by SO MUCH. It really hit me when I saw that number. Oy to the vey.
I need to change.
I want to change.
I MUST change.
I'm thinking about joining Weight Watchers. Any WW success stories out there?

Starting Over
A few weeks ago, I sprained my ankle mildly. But it was enough to keep me from working out for a while.
Well, today was my first day back. And I'm glad to say that I didn't hurt myself. I did the Fighter Fit workout on the Nike Training Club app. This is one of my favorite new ways to workout simply because it's always a little different and I can keep the TV on for background noise.
One of the things that causes me to give up a workout is the lack of variety. After a while, when all the workouts are learned, it gets repetitive. Like, I totally know what Tony Horton is going to say next. And for me, when I'm working out alone, it's not so exciting. I get bored and then I get lazy.
So to mix up my workouts, I've incorporated Nike Training Club. I need to get back to my Turbo Kick though, that always provides a nice kick in the tushy.

Sooo, where have I been?
Yikes. I didn't realize that it had been so long since I last updated.
Probably because I fell off the bandwagon. Again.
This whole losing weight thing, it really takes some willpower. I mean, I knew that, but seriously, more than I can ever give myself credit for.
The P90X workouts happened for about eight weeks again, but then travel and excuses got in the way.
About a month and half ago, we tried the Nike Training Club workout at 24 Hour Fitness, and that was pretty kick ass. In fact, my ass got kicked, royally. I highly recommend it. I think Dallas might be the test city for it, so if you are in DFW, go check it out. Brandace is one of the instructors and a friend!
So I downloaded the Nike Training Club app to my phone and tried a few of the workouts. It's like a do-it-yourself version of the 24 Hour Fitness classes. And if you are able to push yourself through the wall, these are excellent workouts.
My problem earlier this week was that I twisted/mildly sprained my ankle during one of the workouts - which prevented me from working out the rest of the week. RUDE! Stupid ankle. But yet another reason why I need to lose weight and strengthen my ankles.
I ordered The 4 Hour Body, after hearing success stories from people I actually know. So once the book arrives, I will be embarking on a 30-day adventure at least to begin with. I fully plan to track my progress here. Because I want to see if this can work for me.
Here's to losing my muffin top.

Oh Travel
This past weekend I had to travel to San Diego for a wedding. And that threw a monkey wrench in my diet. I know that I should have practiced more self-control, but everything was so delicious. Since my client was also a close friend from college, I was invited to the rehearsal dinner which her fiance's family cooked. It was comprised of all kinds of delicious Filipino food as well as some Mediterranean choices. Then I spent all day Sunday with a good friend of mine. We ate Croque Madames at Cafe Bleu, had some Pinkberry (not so bad), and a taco from Lucha Libre. Delicious! Although, I have to say, we did a lot of walking, so I think it balanced out.... at least that's what I'm saying.
But now that I am back to Texas, I've been good. I had my Shakeology in the morning, black bean soup and rice for lunch, and shredded chicken for dinner. My husband and I did the P90X Chest and Back workout as well as the dreaded Ab RipperX.
I won't be traveling for a while, all of six weeks. Then I go to Las Vegas, where it's incredibly hard to eat healthily! Argh. But I know that I just need to soldier on and keep track of my food. I can do this, it's just a process. I know it doesn't happen overnight. I just want to continue to make progress and steps forward...not taking steps backward.

Starting the Workouts
Sometimes it's a matter of total willpower.
Willing myself to put on my gym clothes.
Willing myself to stick the DVD into the PS3 and hitting play.
Willing myself to push through, even though I'd much rather be sitting on the couch watching a Law & Order: SVU Marathon.
Huffing and puffing through the entire workout, hydrating as needed, and then the satisfaction of completing one of Tony Horton's extreme P90X workouts. Today was Plyometrics, as Tony says, "The mother of all P90X workouts."
We had started P90X last spring and kept up with it for about 8 weeks. I can definitely say that there was improvement in those weeks. And since we haven't done P90X since the summer, it's going to take a little time for our muscles to remember the moves.
In other words, the workout kicked my butt.
And tomorrow, I'll probably be totally useless as my arms will be Jell-o.

Hips: 50
Chest: 46
Thigh: 27
Calf: 17.5
Let's do this!
I'm going to mean it and make this a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Inspired by I Used to be Fat
Yesterday, on MTV, I was watching the show, I Used to Be Fat. And just like when I watch The Biggest Loser, I was so inspired. The girl on the show lost 90lbs through diet and exercise. And she looked fabulous at the end of the show.
I think I was especially inspired because at her starting size, she was a little bit heavier than I am now, and by the time she was starting college (this was over a period of 4 months) she had lost 90lbs!
Every year it seems, I struggle to lose weight. I think it's because I'm just not as invested in it as I should be. My husband is a healthy weight and size and could pretty much eat anything he wanted, if he chose to. I, on the other hand, can't. I'm overweight (or obese, if you're judging by the BMI scale) and I need a change. I need to get to a healthy weight and size.
I can't remember when my clothing size was a single digit. Probably when I was still in elementary school. I can't remember when I wasn't forced to have to buy clothing at a plus-size store. (I HATE the term "plus-size" by the way!) I can't remember when I didn't get winded climbing a few sets of stairs. I'm tired of it, and I need to make a life change.
I'm using this blog to keep me accountable and motivated. Because I want to do this. I need to do this. This is the time. I really mean it this time.
In order to help with my progress, I'll be planning my meals in advance and using SparkPeople.com to track what I eat. I've had success using a food journal (like SparkPeople.com), and now I just need to keep on using it. My exercise will be a mix of going to the gym, doing TurboKick and P90X at home, and eventually, I want to get TurboFire. I just became a Coach on BeachBody.com, so I'll be able to get Shakeology and other Beach Body products for a small discount.
I'm ready.
I don't want to look back a few months from now and say, "I wish I had started then."
Tomorrow, I'll be sharing my starting weight (scary!) and a few photos.
Til then, have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
