Oh Travel

This past weekend I had to travel to San Diego for a wedding. And that threw a monkey wrench in my diet. I know that I should have practiced more self-control, but everything was so delicious. Since my client was also a close friend from college, I was invited to the rehearsal dinner which her fiance's family cooked. It was comprised of all kinds of delicious Filipino food as well as some Mediterranean choices. Then I spent all day Sunday with a good friend of mine. We ate Croque Madames at Cafe Bleu, had some Pinkberry (not so bad), and a taco from Lucha Libre. Delicious! Although, I have to say, we did a lot of walking, so I think it balanced out.... at least that's what I'm saying.

But now that I am back to Texas, I've been good. I had my Shakeology in the morning, black bean soup and rice for lunch, and shredded chicken for dinner. My husband and I did the P90X Chest and Back workout as well as the dreaded Ab RipperX.

I won't be traveling for a while, all of six weeks. Then I go to Las Vegas, where it's incredibly hard to eat healthily! Argh. But I know that I just need to soldier on and keep track of my food. I can do this, it's just a process. I know it doesn't happen overnight. I just want to continue to make progress and steps forward...not taking steps backward.

Starting the Workouts

Sometimes it's a matter of total willpower.

Willing myself to put on my gym clothes.

Willing myself to stick the DVD into the PS3 and hitting play.

Willing myself to push through, even though I'd much rather be sitting on the couch watching a Law & Order: SVU Marathon.

Huffing and puffing through the entire workout, hydrating as needed, and then the satisfaction of completing one of Tony Horton's extreme P90X workouts. Today was Plyometrics, as Tony says, "The mother of all P90X workouts."

We had started P90X last spring and kept up with it for about 8 weeks. I can definitely say that there was improvement in those weeks. And since we haven't done P90X since the summer, it's going to take a little time for our muscles to remember the moves.

In other words, the workout kicked my butt.

And tomorrow, I'll probably be totally useless as my arms will be Jell-o.

We've all got to start somewhere.

And this is my somewhere. It doesn't make me happy, and it even makes me a little nervous to write it out here. But here it goes.

Weight: 245

Measurements:
Waist: 44
Hips: 50
Chest: 46
Thigh: 27

Let's do this!

I'm going to mean it and make this a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
